Highway 401 in Brockville has been reopened following the police investigation.

More details to come.

Ontario Provincial Police say two men have been arrested on the 401 in Brockville after a traffic complaint led to a chase which involved shots being fired by police.

The investigation has closed a section of Highway 401 westbound between Stewart Boulevard and Long Beach Road. There's no word on when the highway will reopen.

OPP Constable Janice Sawbridge tells CFRA it began as a traffic complaint, from a member of the public, around 5:00 p.m. Thursday. That led to a short pursuit. Sawbridge says the circumstances surrounding the officer firing their gun are unknown at this time.

A police officer was injured during the operation, but Sawbridge did not know to what extent.

She says one suspect suffered a minor, self-inflicted injury.

Criminal charges are pending.

CORRECTION NOTE: An OPP news release had said a man and a woman had been arrested, but Constable Sawbridge corrected that information to say two men were arrested.
