Ottawa Fire says two adults and three children have been displaced following a two-alarm blaze in Richmond.
Emergency crews were called to 27 Fowler Street at 3:02 p.m. Friday. Everyone had evacuated the home safely.
During the battle firefighters were forced to pull out of the home and battle it from the outside when the floor at the entrance began to collapse. No firefighters were hurt battling the blaze.
The fire was declared under control by 5:16 p.m. The cause of the fire is under investigation. It is believed to have started in the basement.
The family is being assisted by the Red Cross and the Salvation Army.
Ottawa Fire says crews will remain on scene into the evening.
