Ontario Provincial Police have identified a man who died in a crash on County Road 18 in South Stormont, while trying to help someone else free their car from a ditch.
Police say it happened around 5:30 p.m. Monday.
Three men were trying to free a vehicle that had gone into the southern ditch on County Road 18, between Rombough Road and Morgan Road, when another vehicle drove into the same ditch, striking them. Police say it appears the 19-year-old driver of the second vehicle lost control, but it's unknown how that happened.
53-year-old Shawn Cryderman, of Cornwall, was pronounced dead in hospital. A 32-year-old man from North Dundas Township suffered life-threatening injuries, and a 53-year-old man from South Stormont Township was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
A GoFundMe campaign has been created to help pay for Cryderman's funeral costs. The GoFundMe page says the crash happened just across the street from Cryderman's home, and he had no life insurance.
