Police say the bodies of two people were discovered at an address at Meadowlands Drive and Apeldoorn Avenue at around 10 p.m. Monday.

Police say Cameron Rogers has been charged with two counts of first degree murder.

UPDATE 9:30 a.m.

Ottawa Police have identified the double homicide victims as 69-year-old Dave Rogers and 63-year-old Merrill Rogers. They were found dead outside their home on Apeldoorn Ave. last night, following a tip from Montreal Police to check the residence. 

The Ottawa Citizen is reporting Dave Rogers was a longtime former reporter with their organization, since the 1970s. He left the paper in 2010. 

Montreal Police have a 22-year-old man in custody in connection with the case. The man is the Rogers' son, who allegedly called 911 in Montreal last night and confessed to killing his parents a few days earlier. 

Ottawa Police are returning him to the capital today.

Police now say the investigation into two bodies found in the west end Monday morning is a double homicide. 

These are the city's 18th and 19th homicide victims of 2016.

One person is in custody after two bodies were discovered in the city's west end Monday night, according to Ottawa Police.

Police say the bodies of a man and a woman were found at a home at Apeldoorn Avenue and Meadowlands Drive at around 10 p.m. after Montreal Police contacted the Ottawa force with a tip.

The deaths are being investigated as suspicious. If confirmed to be homicides they will be be city's 18th and 19th of this year.
