Quebec’s police watchdog is investigating a car crash near Amherst--about 130 km northeast of the Capital--that has left two people dead and a provincial police officer with injuries.
According to the Bureau des enquêtes indépendantes, a Sûreté du Québec officer was traveling on Highway 323 toward a collision, with lights flashing, at around 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, when her cruiser collided with a vehicle traveling in the opposite direction.
The two people in the other car, a 63-year-old man and a 58-year-old woman, were killed. The police officer suffered non-life threatening injuries.
The Bureau has assigned seven investigators to this case, and a forensic investigator from the Montreal Police Service has also been dispatched to assist in the investigation.
