Tweed man enters another’s home, threatens family with axe, OPP allege

Ontario Provincial Police have laid charges against a man they accuse of threatening another man while brandishing an axe.

Police say the suspect entered the home of the victim at around 7:15 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30 and confronted a male resident. Two other people, including a small child, were home at the time.

The suspect allegedly waved an axe around, scaring the family, before leaving.

No one was hurt.

OPP say a 42-year-old man has been arrested and is facing the following charges:

  • Assault with a weapon
  • Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm
  • Unlawfully being in a dwelling house
  • Failure to comply with probation

OPP say the suspect is known to the victim. He will be in a Belleville courtroom Monday.

Police say names are not being released in this case.
