The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario says applications have been made for three cannabis retail stores in Ontario.
These would be the first three stores whose planned locations and names have been announced.
“Ganjika House” would be on Main St. S. in Brampton; “The Niagara Herbalist” would open on Lakeshore Rd. in St. Catharines; and "AMERI" would go up on Cumberland St. in Toronto.
The AGCO says, if approved, these stores would represent one of the six stores allocated to the Greater Toronto Area Region, one of the seven stores allocated to the West Region, and one of the five stores allocated to the Toronto Region.
25 licenses were handed out through a lottery system ahead of the April 1 legalization of retail cannabis stores in Ontario. There are five licenses awarded for the East Region, but it remains unclear where they will go.
