The reviews are in and they're not pretty.
After the owners of the Chateau Laurier revealed proposed designs for a massive expansion set to start construction Fall 2017, hundreds took to their keyboards to express distaste for the big, modern attachment to the old castle structure.
Residents on Twitter and Facebook have called the renderings "hideous," "monstrosity," and "something a kid would build with Lego blocks."
"Look, they're building a 1970's Holiday Inn on the back of the #ChateauLaurier," one Twitter user quipped. "Could this be any uglier?"
Politicians have taken time to weigh-in. The area's city councillor Mathieu Fleury said he was happy with the proposal to put the parking garage underground, but said the stakeholders needed to hold consultations and reconsider their unpopular plans.
In a tweet, Mayor Jim Watson said the designers should go "back to the drawing board."
