After a tabloid report linked Paul Anka to the Donald Trump inauguration, the Ottawa native is now saying he will not be a part of it.

The crooner tells TMZ he was approached about singing "My Way" and was working on a special version, but there's been a scheduling conflict involving his son.

Anka says he would have performed if he could, purely out of respect for the presidency.

He calls Trump an old friend.

When asked by TMZ if he shares Trump's views, Anka said the questioner had a better chance of getting "sunrise past a rooster on that one" before adding "no."

Anka became a naturalized US citizen in 1990.
