An Ottawa police officer was treated for facial injuries after a drug arrest in the downtown area on Sunday.
Police say two officers spotted a suspect putting drugs in a pipe on George Street around 11:30 a.m.
Once he was in handcuffs he allegedly became unruly, kicking an officer in the face with a steel-toed boot.
A police Sergeant was called to the scene and produced a taser - but officials say the suspect calmed down and the device did not have to be used.
Christopher Thompson, 32, has been charged with three versions of assaulting a police officer and two counts of drug possession.
