Labour Day marks the last day to check out the Inspiration Village in the ByWard Market before it's dismantled this week.
The Ottawa 2017 signature event drew in 340,000 visitors according to executive director Guy Laflamme, but it wasn't well received initially.
Laflamme says the exhibit didn't meet his expectations at first, so organizers made some tweaks.
"We ended up changing the people involved in the planning of all the programming and we invested more money and as a result we started seeing the satisfaction levels go up, up, up."
He says of the 340,000 visitors, just under half came from out of town.
When Inspiration Village opened it saw the loss of 90 parking spots on York Street. With the shipping containers being taken down this week, organizers say the parking lot should be back to normal by Sept. 20. The popular Ottawa sign will be taken away, but will later find a permanent home at York and Sussex.
