Ottawa Public Health says far fewer people are getting flu shots this year.
At its clinics during October and November, staff inoculated about 6,600 people.
But that's down from the more than 17,000 flu shots they had administered to this point last year.
CFRA's doctor Barry Dworkin notes, though, that the vaccinations are far more available now at places like pharmacies and clinics.
“Likely what is happening is people are seeking flu shots are more convenient locations or more convenient times,” Dworkin says.
Dworkin adds it's critical that people get their flu shot, to build what is called "herd immunity."
He says it's especially important for the elderly, children, and anyone battling a chronic medical condition.
