Dozens displaced by major fire in Gatineau

Dozens of people have been displaced from their homes after a massive fire this morning in Gatineau.

Residents of 420 Cite des Jeunes Boulevard - mostly students - watched as their homes burned.

At one point nearly 50 of the 180 units were on fire. Ottawa crews were called in for back-up.

Many people lost everything in the fire. An elderly woman suffered minor injuries.

The fire began on the fourth floor but the cause has not been determined.
