One of the founding fathers of the modern-era Ottawa Senators is gone from the organization.
The team says Cyril Leeder has "stepped down" as President and CEO, and was not offered another position.
Team owner Eugene Melnyk indicated the possible move to LeBreton Flats played a role in the change of up top.
"The fact is it is a massive project," Melnyk told media at a Wednesday morning news conference. "We take it very seriously and - for that - you need someone with experience."
New President and CEO Tom Anselmi has a strong track record when it comes to development. His resume including influential roles in the construction of Skydome (now Rogers Centre) and the Air Canada Centre in Toronto.
He spent 17 years as part of the Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment organization.
One of Leeder's fellow team founders - Bruce Firestone - took to Twitter to thank the outgoing President.
Firestone says Leeder saved the franchise "at least three times."
