A second-degree murder charge has been laid in the stabbing death of a 21-year-old man at St. Laurent and Ogilvie.

27-year-old Joe-Bryan Ndikuriyo appeared in court today.

Police say Solomon Odekunle was found with stab wounds at around 2:30 a.m.Sunday.

This marks the city's 17th homicide of 2016. The city has not seen this many homicides in a single year in two decades.

"The Mayor has to do something. The police have to do something. It's very scary," says Danielle Lauzon, who was having breakfast at a restaurant near the crime scene Sunday morning.

The Major Crimes Unit had the intersection closed for much of Sunday as part of the investigation.
