Ottawa Life Magazine wrote, "…For arresting news, lively debate and passionate views, 580 CFRA’s Madely In The Morning show is your one stop shop.  Host and Ottawa Sun columnist, Steve Madely keeps his audience informed, engaged and inspired through his willingness to tackle events and issues head on.  With this radio personality you're getting the real deal…".

Steve Madely is one of the veterans of the Ottawa news scene, and puts a wealth of journalistic experience to work on behalf of his listeners. After a radio and television news-reporting career in diverse markets Steve and his wife Gayle settled in Ottawa in 1972 – and since 1994 he has hosted the Capital’s top-rated Madely in The Morning show on News Talk Radio 580 CFRA from 6 am to 9 am daily. Steve is a regular commentator on Ottawa’s A Morning Show and appears regularly as a guest on radio and TV news programs across the country.  Steve is past chairman of the Canadian Press Broadcast Advisory Committee, and a winner of the Radio Television News Director’s Association’s national award for excellence in reporting.

His list of community involvements is lengthy, most recently receiving the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Ottawa Chapter Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser Award for 2009, and the 2008 in the Kanata Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year Award.  Steve currently serves on the campaign cabinet for the Ottawa Hospital Cancer Centre, The Mayor’s Leadership Roundtable on Homelessness and Housing, and the Board of the Ottawa Christmas Cheer Foundation.  He is a special advisor to the Bruyere Continuing Care Foundation, and for more than twelve years has co-hosted of the Ottawa Cancer Foundation Telethon. He is honorary chairman of the Ottawa Hospital Rehabilitation Centre Gala, and an honorary life Rotarian since 1990 in recognition of his work for children with disabilities.  His advocacy on behalf of members of Canadian Forces members and their families, highlighted by his lead role in organizing a 15 thousand citizen strong Wear Red Fridays rally on Parliament Hill in 2006, includes his current role as advisor to the National Memorial Centre for deceased members of the forces and the RCMP.

Steve and his wife of 40 years are proud parents of three children, all born and raised in Ottawa – their eldest, Todd is a Trooper with the New York State Police, their daughter Samantha is a professional actress living in Vancouver and Toronto, and their youngest Zachary is an avid Midget hockey goalie in Kanata.  Their pre-school grandson William is frequently seen perched on his granddad’s shoulders on visits to Kanata and The Thousand Islands where Steve’s enjoys downtime on his much loved boat, aptly named “Off Air”.
