14 Week Anxiety Management Workshop
The ADAO 14-Week Anxiety Management Workshop is a structured educational workshop, the focus of which is on providing participants with tools and information to assist them in managing their symptoms of anxiety. Each week, following a check-in activity, facilitators will guide participants through a relaxation exercise. The focus of each session will be on information-sharing; however, the format will vary from week (e.g., group/individual activities, mini-lectures, role play exercises). Each session ends with a grounding exercise as well as a check-out activity. Facilitators are provided with session agendas, background reading material, presentation material, relaxation/grounding exercises, as well as participant handouts for each session. Each session is also supplemented with a gratitude journal exercise, resource-sharing, as well as a focus on connecting participants to the community. Over the course of four weeks, participants are introduced to cognitive-behaviour theory and techniques (e.g., automatic thoughts, Socratic method, cognitive distortions, assumptions and core beliefs) as well as graduated exposure, introducing participants to both the theory behind these ideas as well as the tools used to manage related symptoms of anxiety.

Magical Village

-
Place D'Orleans, 2nd Floor, Food Court, Orleans, ON
Gloucester North Lions Club Magical Village
The following is a brief description of what this venue is all about: The MAGICAL VILLAGE is back once again at Place D’Orleans to spread joy to one and all. Come see the Magic in the children’s eyes as they mill about the interactive train displays and gaze at the beautifully lighted houses that come to life at the touch of a button. It is an event like no other to raise funds for community projects in partnership with the Gloucester Emergency Food Cupboard....and we are inviting you to be part of it. The MAGICAL VILLAGE was started as a fundraiser for the Gloucester Emergency Food Cupboard (GEFC) and the Gloucester Child Care Services. Through generous contributions over the past number of years, Gloucester North Lions Club has donated $5,000 EACH to the GEFC, Orleans-Cumberland Resource Centre and Ottawa East Resource Centre for a total of $15,000. In 2008 we made a $5,000 donation to the Hospice of May Court. The Magical Village reaches out to the Community every year appealing to children and adults of all ages while raising funds for those needy Community projects and helping to feed the less fortunate in our Community. This year, it is our GOAL to donate to DogGuides run by the Lions Foundation of Canada, Big Brothers/Sisters of Ottawa as well as the Gloucester Emergency Cupboard. We hope we can count on you to help us achieve this GOAL. Contacts for the Gloucester North Lions Club, Lion Fern Aubé at (613)-837-9705, or Lion Ashlea Grosset at (613) 744-6438 or (613_232-7100. We would appreciate it if this event could be broadcast over your radio station as well as Oldies 1310, Country Y101.1, BOBFM, CFRA 580 at various times throughout the month of December. Also, if anyone from your Stations would like to drop by the site to see for yourself or we would love it if someone could attend and perhaps do a live broadcast from the site.
