New York Celebrates Yankees’ Win

You didn’t have to be a die-hard Yankees fan to enjoy the celebrations in New York.

Crowds cheered and paper rained down as the Yankees players were paraded through Lower Manhattan, celebrating their World Series win over the Philadelphia Phillies.

Revelers arrived early to get a good spot along the route. People skipped work or school just to take part. Crowds roared, with many singing ‘New York, New York.’

Former Yankees players joined the celebrations. Reggie Jackson told interviewers that the players should enjoy the moment. `Take it all in. You never know if it'll happen again. It's a special time and special thing.'

A second celebration took place at City Hall, where Mayor Michael Bloomberg gave the team the keys to the city.
