Auditior General Says Marine Atlantic Facing Big Problems

The chairman of Marine Atlantic which operates the ferry service between Nova Scotia and Newfoundland says they are working hard to improve their service.
That after the federal auditor general’s five year study concluded the crown corporation has serious problems.
Sheila Fraser office says the corporation is ineffective and inefficient, pointing to cost overruns and poor planning and maintenance.
The corporation’s chairman says they are trying to make changes to improve the system.
Marine Atlantic is looking for 1.5 billion dollars in funding for their 25 year plan which includes the purchase of new vessels.
