Canada's new general in Afghanistan says one of his first priorities will be to increase the number of soldiers securing Kandahar.
Brig.-Gen. Daniel Menard took over command of Task Force Kandahar today.
Menard replaces Brig-Gen. Jonathan Vance as Canada's top soldier in southern Afghanistan.
During a ceremony at Kandahar Airfield, Menard promised to help Kandahar Governor Tooryalai Wesa deal with corruption in the province.
