No charges will be laid in connection with the Ontario Provincial Police shooting death of a man near Brockville last summer.
Ontario's Special Investigations Unit has concluded there are no reasonable grounds to lay charges.
The SIU says the incident began on July 3rd, when a man fled a RIDE checkpoint on Highway 401 in Brockville. After a pursuit reached speeds of 150 kilometres an hour on a county road, the SIU said six police vehicles surrounded the vehicle north of Highway 401.
The SIU says two officers discharged their firearms a total of eight times after the driver of the vehicle rammed police vehicles to create enough space to flee the area.
35-year-old Jeffrey Charbonneau was killed instantly after one of the bullets went through the driver's side mirror and struck him in the head.
